'Mayowa has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Lagos (Unilag), Akoka-Lagos, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University (TAMU), College Station, Texas.

He is an SPE Certified Petroleum Engineering Professional (SPEC) and a Licensed Professional Petroleum Engineer (PE) in the States of Texas, Wyoming & California. While studying at TAMU, he received the John C. Calhoun Endowed Fellowship and was a member of the Pi Epsilon Tau Petroleum Engineering Honors Society.

‘Mayowa is a reservoir engineering expert with over 15 years of experience in various types of secondary and tertiary recovery operations (H₂O, CO₂ & N₂). He authored the technical paper titled; "NGL Yield During Miscible CO₂ flooding" which was presented at the annual CO₂ conference in Midland, Texas, in 2007 and published in Harts E&P magazine in 2008.


‘Mayowa's career includes various reservoir engineering roles with Multinational, International, State Regulatory Agency & Independent Oil and Gas Companies including ExxonMobil, Kinder Morgan Production Company, Hess Corporation, Apache Corporation, Maverick Natural Resources, and most recently with Denbury Incorporated (a wholly owned subsiduary of ExxonMobil Corporation).


He was the Board Chairman of the SPE-YP for the Southwestern North America (Permian Basin) Region from 2009 –2011 and was the recipient of the 2011 SPE Young Member Outstanding Service Award for the Southwestern North America (Permian Basin) Region. ‘Mayowa is married to his lovely wife, and they are blessed with 3 lovely kids.
